Principal's Message

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Larry C. Kennedy Elementary School. My journey in education began in 1996 when I became a crossing guard and paraprofessional at Christensen Elementary School. I had the opportunity to teach 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade at Christensen and Marshall Elementary School. I relocated to Phoenix in 2005 to work as an Assistant Principal at Larry C. Kennedy Elementary School. In 2013, I transitioned into the role of principal and have enjoyed the opportunity of working with students, parents, staff members, and community members!

My mission as a principal is to always put students first. We focus on student achievement but most importantly how to teach students as a whole. We work on academics, sports, health, nutrition, and mindfulness. Focusing on the student as a whole will better prepare them for school and for their future.

I would like to encourage all Larry C. Kennedy parents/guardians is to stay involved. This can be accomplished by staying in contact with your student’s teacher. Our expectations will be to consistently make sure you are aware of your student’s progress and answer any questions or concerns you have at any time. This style of two-way communication will help ensure the success of your student’s education and well-being. I strongly encourage you to volunteer at Larry C. Kennedy. This may look differently for each family. If you can volunteer during the school day, we can always use extra assistance. For busy families that are unable to volunteer during the school day, you may contact your student’s teacher to determine if there is something that you can do at home (ex. stapling, cutting, prepping materials, etc.).

I look forward to working with you and your student this year. Together we can ensure that your student will be successful in school and the future!

Sincerely,

Andy Gutierrez
